Becoming an Acton family is a serious commitment!

We require all families who are interested in enrolling to read Courage to Grow: How Acton Academy Turns Learning Upside Down by Laura Sandefer BEFORE the application process. In addition, Montessori applicants are asked to read Child of the World by Susan Stephenson and The Montessori Baby OR The Montessori Toddler by Simone Davies.

1

Read the required materials listed above. It is an important first step to research the history of Acton to determine whether you and your family are ready to go “all in” on a Hero’s Journey.

2

Complete the online inquiry form and the Admissions Committee will automatically receive electronic notification of your request.

3

A member of the Admissions Committee will contact you to schedule a tour. After initial approval, an application link will be sent. Transcripts and a letter of recommendation from a current or former teacher are required for learners entering Spark through Launchpad. Once your application is submitted a meet and greet and/or age level assessment appointments will be scheduled.  If entering during an academic year, a shadow day will be included.

4

You will be notified of the Admissions Committee's final decision on acceptance. Upon final approval, your application will be accepted to move forward with enrollment. Decisions are made on a rolling, individual basis and upon availability. Please note that the grade level program desired may not be where your Learner is placed. Final program placement is dependant upon Guide assessments and made at the discretion of Acton at Serenbe.

5

If accepted, an email will be sent containing registration information. Once registration information is entered and initial payment received, you will receive an email confirming your child’s start date.

Enrollment at Acton is open to learners from 6 weeks to 12th grade. All learners are placed on a 30 day probationary period to ensure acclimation into the Acton program. If Acton is not right for your child, one month’s tuition will be reimbursed. Registration and any additional tuition will not be refunded.

Continued enrollment is contingent upon the parents’, emergency contact persons’ and child’s adherence to the policies and procedures as outlined in this handbook including, but not limited to, timely payment of all fees and tuition.

A current health record of your learner’s immunizations is required before the first day of enrollment. Our immunizations are audited by the state department each year. Please make an appointment with your learner’s doctor as soon as possible to obtain this or a medical/religious exemption. If your learner has a health concern, it is required that parents provide us with a doctor’s note with this information.

Please note that we can only accept a Georgia 3231 Immunization Record with a valid expiration date OR a notarized DPH Affidavit of Religious Exemption. Records from another state cannot be accepted and must be taken to your doctor or the DPH to be transferred to the correct Georgia 3231 form. Learners will not be allowed to remain on campus after 30 days without this documentation according to Georgia state law.

Parents are required to notify Acton at Serenbe immediately should any of the information collected at the time of enrollment or any time thereafter change. Acton at Serenbe reserves the right to dismiss any learner at any time with or without cause.
